Albany Tulip Beds #1 Hudson Riverfront / Fort Orange – Downtown, Albany, NY 518

#1 of the official City of Albany Tulip Beds, the Hudson Riverfront Tulip Bed, located in one of the oldest sections of Albany dating back to the 1620’s, on Broadway between Pruyn & Hamilton Streets, in front of the Hudson Riverfront Entrance to the 787 Freeway.

This is the southernmost intersection on Broadway before the freeway and the closest intersection to the site of the original Fort Orange from 1624 which is under the freeway overpass.

The Parliament looking building is the SUNY HQ and the site of the original Albany Statehouse dating back to the Dutch New Netherland colony.

The pink building spans the entire block of liberty street between Hamilton & Pruyn.

The 787 Highway separates downtown Albany from its beautiful Hudson River that gave it its purpose 411 years ago. These Tulips would look ever more amazing with a Hudson Riverfront backdrop, but boomers wanted to build highways for cars everywhere and now we will settle for a “historic intersection” instead.
